El Bandito:
Below:
I think the first scene should start like this, all in sepia, and the camera gradually gets closer to the wanted poster, until just El Bandito is in shot. Then fade in the colours and the background and zoom out again to see him sitting on the water tower... then have him hit in the face with the wanted poster. I think this will add a bit more unexpected humour to the shot, rather than just simly following the poster as it goes to hit him in the face..

Also.. I think when the poster hits El Bandito in the face, there should already be a train moving past him.. When he does get hit, he realises he can rob this train so runs to the edge of the water tower to jump off, like he used to do, but he gets scared as he is so high and flails his arms about in a desperate attempt to stay on.
He takes a few steps back, bends over double to get his breath back and calm down. He then notices a new train is coming, so climbs down the ladder and prepares himself on the ledge below.
He then jumps onto the train and the story continues.
I think this would be better because it could clearly show that he is in the mess with the prisoners because he was too old to jump onto the first train. And the only reason he jumped onto the next train was in a vain attempt to prove to himself that he can still do this job.
Heres a quick mov of what I can see happening:
